Biography  

Jim Young is the former president and chief investment officer of PPM America, a $110 billion investment management firm located in Chicago. In his role, Young was responsible for all investment functions, including trading, portfolio management, credit research, public fixed income, private placements, structured products, public equity and commercial real estate. He also managed 100 employees.

While working at PPM America, Young was a member of the firm's board and helped guide the firm through the financial crisis of 2008-2009. This included overseeing buy/sell recommendations, managing credit exposure, restructuring the Mortgage Backed Securities portfolio and negotiating and restructuring three separate bank loan collateralized loan obligations,​ which the firm managed. Young retired in 2015.
