John T. Ahern, Jr. is an associate professor in the School of Accountancy & Management Information Systems. In administrative roles, he has served as director of the School of Accountancy & MIS and as associate dean for the Driehaus College of Business. Ahern teaches auditing, intermediate accounting, financial accounting and managerial accounting.
Ahern was appointed a Fulbright Scholar and taught for a year at Kazan Federal University (Volga Region) in Kazan Russia. He also served as a Faculty Resident with Arthur Andersen & Co. conducting audits in Andersen's Financial Services Audit Group and offering tax services as a member of Andersen's Personal Financial Planning group. From 2000 to 2005 he served as Project Director on a U.S. State Department Grant, "Business Education In Tatarstan."
In recent years, Professor Ahern has been a visiting faculty member at Aalto University Collge of Business in Mikkeli, Finland. Internationally, he has taught in Russia, Finland, Bahrain, Hong Kong and the Czech Republic. He has served as a consultant in Russia and Bosnia-Herezgovina. For a time he was a member of the Board of Directors of Hub International Limited, one of the largest insurance brokerage companies in North America. Hub traded on both the New York and the Toronto Stock Exchanges.
