Biography
Wendy Heltzer is an Associate Professor in the School of Accountancy & Management Information Systems. Professor Heltzer received her BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and her MBA and PhD from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In between earning her undergraduate and graduate degrees, Professor Heltzer worked at Ernst & Young in New York City as a tax consultant. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of New York.
Professor Heltzer currently teaches both Introductory (ACC 101) and Intermediate (ACC 304) Financial Accounting classes. Her main service at DePaul includes being the founder and faculty advisor for DePaul Women in Business (DeWIB) as well as the faculty administrator for the annual Fred Lang Student Case Competition.
Professor Heltzer's research interests involve the quality of financial reporting, with an emphasis on the information in book-tax differences, financial statement conservatism, regulatory changes and corporate environmental responsibility. Professor Heltzer has published papers on these topics in the Journal of Accounting, Auditing & Finance, Advances in Accounting, Managerial Auditing Journal and The CPA Journal.
