Biography

Karen Burgard is assistant dean in the Driehaus College of Business and instructor in the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship. She is also a board certified health and wellness coach through the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaches (NBHWC).

Burgard’s teaching style is strengths-based and experiential. It focuses on personal growth, career development and connecting values to work while finding meaning and purpose in life. Her approach to teaching is rooted in a holistic coaching philosophy that begins by recognizing the wholeness of each person.

Burgard leads the business college's Undergraduate Programs Office, which provides advising and student services to the undergraduate business student population. Putting people first, she is skilled in team building, creating a compassionate workplace culture, motivation and navigating change. As part of the college’s leadership team she provides internal consulting on process management and strategic planning.

She was awarded DePaul University’s Distinguished Staff Service Award in 2019.
