Ledger & Quill

President's Welcome Message

Welcome to Ledger & Quill!

It is truly an honor to serve as the new L&Q president. This organization has such a rich history, and while it is a tremendous responsibility to fill the shoes of the prior presidents, I am confident that I am up to the task. As is the DePaul way, I hope to give back to DePaul through service. To me, running L&Q is the ultimate way to serve — not only the university, but also the alumni base.

In the words of St. Vincent de Paul: What must be done?

For School of Accounting and MIS alumni, L&Q is our way of giving back — giving back to the school, the faculty and those talented students who could benefit from needed assistance. By creating and funding professorships and fellowships, you allow DePaul to attract and retain the world-class faculty members who are the backbone of the program. In contributing to the general Ledger & Quill Fund you allow the director of the school to meet immediate needs that arise for which there may be no budgeted funds. By creating and funding scholarships, you provide support for our talented students who might otherwise find a DePaul education to be out of their reach.

And we must ask that same question to support our alumni as well — what must be done to enhance our alumni base to create opportunities for it to connect with our larger alumni community? As an alumnus, one of your greatest assets is the base of alumni professionals that you can call upon. Expanding networking within the organization will drive participation — from new alumni looking to launch their careers as well as others mid-career looking to make a change. L&Q members have the opportunity to not only enhance their own careers and lives, but also give back to the place that helped launch their careers.

So I ask you to join in the mission of St. Vincent and give back  to your school and alumni.

Tyson May (BUS '00), Strobel Honors Accountancy
