Biography
Bright (Yue) Hong is an assistant professor at the School of Accountancy & MIS in the Driehaus College of Business. Prior to joining DePaul, Hong was a visiting assistant professor of accounting at the University of Iowa and worked in the Financial Accounting Advisory Service for Ernst & Young in New York City.
Hong's research focuses on humanizing accounting, with interests in (1) accountants’ judgments, decisions, and well-being, and (2) the fit among person, task, and environment. Her dissertation, which used the compatibility principle to improve complex audit judgments, was published in The Accounting Review, a top three journal in the field. Her coauthored paper on risk management for Robotic Process Automation was recognized by the American Accounting Association as research with societal impact and offered as a continuing professional education course for the California CPA Society. Her coauthored article on auditor burnout and job design for person-environment fit has recently been published at the California Management Review. She has received the Research Advisory Board Grant and the Access to Audit Personnel Grant from the Center for Audit Quality. Hong encourages her students to become independent thinkers and problem solvers in and outside of the classroom.
