Biography

Dan Koys is a professor emeritus in the​ Department of Management & Entrepreneurship at the Driehaus College of Business. Before taking emeritus status in 2019, he was a professor who taught at the undergraduate and graduate level. His courses included Human Resource Management, Compensation and Benefits, Career Management Skills, and Principles of Management. All of his courses incorporated aspects of experiential learning where students apply knowledge to realistic problems.

Koys has published his research in several academic journals, including Personnel Psychology, Human Relations, Employee Responsibilities and Rights Journal, the Journal of Business Ethics, Labor Law Journal, Journal of Management Education, and the Journal of Human Resources Education. His latest research focused on the impact of human resources on organizational performance and on the improvement of teaching and learning in business schools.

As a former associate dean of the Driehaus College of Business, Koys oversaw the college's academic policies and its maintenance of accreditation from the Associaton to Advance Collegiate Schools Business-International (AACSB). He also led the effort to classify faculty members’ qualifications for AACSB. During that time, he coordinated efforts to launch new degree programs such as the Master of Science in Human Resources and the Bachelor of General Business. He also worked with his colleagues to develop occupation-focused concentrations within the undergraduate management major.
