Biography

Michael T. Mitchell, PhD, MBA, is an instructor at the Driehaus College of Business with more than 40 years of business experience and over 20 years of teaching experience. He has taught both undergraduate and MBA business courses including innovation, entrepreneurship, marketing, global marketing, organizational design and leadership. His has taught at the University of Dayton, Loyola University, the Center for Creative Leadership and other leading universities. He has also taught in the US and around the world, including Europe, China, the Middle East and India.  He was named a Fulbright Specialist in 2022.

Mitchell’s business experience includes leadership positions in advertising, marketing, management and consulting. He has also worked in the consumer packaged goods industry, as well as in the manufacturing, creative services/advertising, consumer durables, technology, agriculture, medical, insurance, finance, utilities and retail industries, among others.

Innovation is a focus of Mitchell’s career, expertise and research. Having held critical roles in innovation, leadership and consulting assignments for a variety of Fortune 500 companies, Mitchell brings real-world experience combined with the perspective of a researcher in the field of innovation. His research and reputation in the field of innovation makes him a thorough leader, instructor and keynote speaker.

His articles and interviews have appeared in publications such as Forbes, Talent Quarterly, the American Marketing Association, The Everyday Innovator Podcast, Business Journal of America, and in the Center for Creative Leadership publications, as well as academic journals such as the Journal of Innovation and Sustainability. His research examines innovators i​n large organizations and innovation leadership.
