Biography
Michelle Gigowski Caplan is an instructor at the graduate and undergraduate levels of business education in the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship at the Driehaus College of Business. Caplan also works full time at DiaSorin, a global leader in the laboratory diagnostics market specializing in immunodiagnostics and molecular diagnostics, where she leads the marketing team overseeing the strategic portfolio for North America. Prior to joining DiaSorin, Caplan had 12 years of experience working in strategy management consulting, healthcare, and the life sciences.
Caplan has also held roles leading finance, business analytics, field sales, and strategic planning initiatives at Thermo Fisher Scientific. Before working at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Caplan managed operations at both a durable medical equipment company and an ambulatory surgery center.
Caplan earned her doctorate in business administration at DePaul University. Her research interests aim to bridge the academic-practitioner gap to drive meaningful impact in organizations. Her areas of focus include team level decision-making, leadership, sustainability, and cooperation. Ongoing research includes examining the mechanisms through which human behaviors shape performance outcomes in the workplace.
