Biography

William McAlpine retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as a tax managing director in 2020. McAlpine has more than 30 years of tax experience dealing with multi-national companies in the life sciences and media industries. He was responsible for all aspects of federal/state income tax compliance, tax controversy, mergers and acquisitions, international tax issues, income tax accounting and tax planning.

During his PwC career, McAlpine specialized in accounting for income taxes, internal controls related to income tax reporting and audit procedures related to income tax reporting and disclosures. He also was a frequent speaker on income tax accounting topics at the Tax Executives Institute and PwC National Training programs. McAlpine was an adjunct professor in the University of Illinois Master of Science Tax program from 2012 through 2018, teaching The Consolidated Tax Return and Corporate Reorganizations session.
