Bruce Leech was named executive director of the Coleman Entrepreneurship Center at DePaul University in March 2016 after serving on the center's advisory board for 10 years. He leads the center's efforts to assists students and alumni in developing their entrepreneurial skills, launching and growing ventures and connecting them with the vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Chicago.
Among the initiatives he oversees is DePaul's membership in 1871, Chicago's premier business and technology start-up incubator.
An experienced entrepreneur, Leech is the founder and a director of CrossCom National, an information technology data/voice company that provides nationwide installation, service, maintenance and help desk support to large national retailers including Kohl’s, Walmart, Walgreens, TJX and Starbucks. Leech also opened an office for CrossCom in the United Kingdom, where he lived for several years. He is also co-founder of evolve, a membership organization for business owners that helps them to enhance their leadership skills, create value in their businesses and develop plans for the rest of their lives.
Leech gives back to the community through his involvement in several non-profit organizations. He is on the board at Solidarity Bridge, which provides medical mission trips to Bolivia. He also has been active in supporting World Vision and traveled to Africa to work on AIDS relief and school programs. In addition, he works with Living Water on providing fresh water well programs in developing countries and with the Barnabas Group in Chicago, supporting other mission efforts.
A native of Detroit, Leech graduated from Michigan State with a BA in Finance. He is a member of the MSU Marketing Advisory Board, MSU Foundation Board, Spartan Innovations Board, CIBER Board for International Business and former Board member of the Broad College of Business.
He received his MBA from DePaul. he also completed the Owener/President Management Program at Harvard Business School and is active in their Chicago alumni club. In 2010, Leech was inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame. He received the Broad College of Business Distinguished Alumni Award in 2013 and received the 2014 Alumni Service Award from Michigan State. Leech is married, lives in Chicago and is a father of four. He has a home on Torch Lake in Northern Michigan and likes the water and the mountains. He is also active in marathons, triathlons, squash, sailing, scuba, skiing and is a private pilot.
