Biography

The Honorable Daniel T. Gillespie is a retired judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County and an adjunct instructor of business law, ethics and negotiation at the Driahaus College of Business. Judge Gillespie has written civil procedure articles for the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) newsletter Trial Briefs and for the Illinois Bar Journal.

Judge Gillespie is active in various bar associations:

  • American Bar Association: member of the National Conference of State Court Judges, the Judicial Administration Division and former member of Publications Committee of Judicial Administration Division.
  • Chicago Bar Association: member of the Municipal Law Committee and former member of the Juvenile Law Committee and of the Military Law Committee.
  • Illinois State Bar Association: former member of the Assembly, the Publications Board and the Civil Practice Committee, and chair of the TV-sub-committee of the Civil Practice Section. Former associate member of the Criminal Justice Section and former Judge for the Lincoln Award, an annual state-wide legal writing contest for young attorneys.

Judge Gillespie regularly gives presentations on civil law practice for the ISBA​, the Chicago Bar Association and other organizations.
