Joel Reynolds is an assistant professor at the School of Hospitality Leadership in the Driehaus College of Business. He is a certified executive chef, certified hospitality and culinary educator, and a sommelier.

Reynolds has extensive experience in the food and hospitality industry, having worked as a chef in several fine dining restaurants and as former vice president of food service operations for Niagara Power Baseball. His research interests are in food service management, particularly in food safety practices among restaurant food handlers and childcare employees. His research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals.

Before joining DePaul in 2019, Reynolds was an assistant professor at the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Niagara University. At Niagara, Reynolds taught courses focused on food service management, such as wine and culture, cost controls and hospitality management. Prior to that, he taught and created courses in the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management at the University of South Carolina, such as Healthy Mediterranean Cooking, Simply French, Simply Italian, Servsafe Sanitation, Introduction to Cooking and Tailgating 101.

Reynolds currently serves on the editorial board for a number of journals, including the Journal of Tourism and Hospitality, the Journal of Pediatric Diseases, and the Hospitality and Tourism Management International Journal. He is also a question review and developer for the ServSafe Food Safety Exam.
