Biography
José Maria Liberti is an award-winning teacher and scholar whose research focuses on corporate finance, financial intermediation and organizational economics. His research has been recognized with the first prize paper for the best paper in corporate finance (2010) and two distinguished paper awards (2010, 2011) in the prestigious Journal of Finance awards sponsored by the Brattle Group. Liberti also has received the best paper award from the Financial Management Association (2013), an outstanding paper award from the Midwest Finance Association (2013) and the TCW best paper award from the China International Conference in Finance (2015).
Liberti teaches courses in mergers and acquisitions, global entrepreneurial finance and corporate restructuring. He has taught at the London Business School, the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Tilburg University and University of Wisconsin School of Business. He also is a European Banking Center research fellow.
Liberti previously worked in corporate financial advising and risk management at Citibank. He received his MS and PhD in economics from University of Chicago and BA and MA in economics from the Universidad de San Andrés in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
