Biography

Mark May is an instructor​ in the Department of Finance & Real Estate at DePaul University. During the past 25 years, May has worked as a development executive for many well-known development firms, including The John Buck Company, Mesirow Financial, Irgens Partners, Forest City Enterprises, Hyatt Classic Residence and Stein & Company.

Most recently, he has been involved in a multi-building mixed-use LEED-ND project comprising 465,000 square feet in Boulder, Colo., and a 43-story high-tech LEED-Gold office building containing 743,000 square feet in San Francisco. Prior developments include high-rise multi-family and condominiums, continuing care retirement communities, garden-style townhomes, high-rise offices, medical office, financial trading facility, institutional and parking.

As a real estate consultant, May has advised notable clients, including The University of Chicago, Beaumont Hospital, Prudential Insurance, Roosevelt University and Northwestern University. Prior to working as a developer, May was a licensed architect and structural engineer with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in London and Chicago.

May received his MBA with honors from The University of Chicago and a Master of Architecture with a Plym Fellowship distinction from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
