Biography
Mary Mindak is an associate professor and director of the Strobel Honors Program in the School of Accountancy & MIS at DePaul University. She received her PhD in business administration with a concentration in accounting from the University of Cincinnati in 2009. She previously worked at Ernst & Young LLP as an auditor and at Western & Southern Life Insurance Company in the accounting department as a strategic GAAP analyst. Mindak received her Certified Public Accounting certificate in 2006. In 2020, she was awarded the RSM Fellowship. In 2021, Mindak became director of the Strobel Accounting Honors Program at DePaul.
Mindak teaches Financial Reporting I and Auditing II at the undergraduate level at DePaul. She also teaches Financial Accounting Theory & Practice I and Financial Accounting Theory & Practice II at the graduate level. Her research interests focus on audit risk, bankruptcy, corporate environmental responsibility, and fraud and forensic accounting. Another area of Mindak’s research concentrates on developing case study materials in auditing and forensic accounting. Along with her co-authors, Mindak has published the book "Alpine Cupcakes, Inc., Audit Case Study" (2nd edition) with Cambridge Business Publishers. Her research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals including Behavioral Research in Accounting, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting, Ethics and Public Policy, Research in Accounting Regulation, Managerial Auditing Journal, the CPA Journal and CMA Magazine.
