Two DePaul University business professors are celebrating golden anniversaries on DePaul’s faculty this academic year. Professors Helen LaVan and James Ciecka have both reached 50 years of teaching at DePaul, and both graduated from the university.
LaVan, whose expertise is in human resources, began as a management instructor at the Driehaus College of Business in December 1969. After earning a PhD at Loyola University Chicago, LaVan moved up the tenure track to become a professor at DePaul, where she had previously earned an MBA.
Ciecka joined DePaul in January 1970 as an assistant professor after completing his PhD in economics from Purdue University. He returned to his alma mater to teach economics, which he had studied at DePaul as an undergraduate.
