DePaul's Executive Education programs create competitive advantages for individuals looking to advance their careers and help organizations meet their learning and development goals.

Executive education has become an increasingly important factor in business success, both for individuals seeking career advancement and for organizations looking to cultivate talent. In fact, a recent Journal of Management meta-analysis of research on employer-supported career development programs found that these resources are linked to higher employee job satisfaction and retention.

To accelerate both individual and organizational talent development, DePaul Executive Education is launching new online certificates for individuals and custom programs designed for organization partners.

The programs are taught by industry experts and top-tier faculty members from DePaul University’s Driehaus College of Business, a highly regarded and accredited Chicago business school with a well-established reputation for producing globally minded, socially responsible leaders.

“Our executive education programs are designed to help accelerate professionals’ development through focused learning opportunities and creating long-term partnerships with the business community to help organizations achieve their learning and development goals,” says Associate Dean, Management Professor and corporate consultant Robert S. Rubin, who leads DePaul Executive Education.

DePaul Executive Education offerings include:

  • Open enrollment, 12-week, non-credit certificate programs for all levels of professionals seeking to upskill or reskill. Programs in business analytics and entrepreneurship begin in winter 2022 and programs in healthcare management and business administration will launch in spring 2023. The certificates will be offered four times a year, with plans to add more programs focusing on in-demand skills soon.
  • Customized learning and development programs for organization partners. Powered to accelerate talent development, these programs feature consultative design, development, execution and evaluation by DePaul in collaboration with organization partners.

Lochner, a national transportation infrastructure firm, recently partnered with DePaul to implement a leadership foundations executive education program for their employees.

“I know first-hand of the quality of the business education provided by DePaul University,” says Terry Ruhl, board chair and CEO of Lochner, who is an alumnus of DePaul’s Doctor in Business Administration program. “In alignment with our strategic vision and roadmap, Lochner is committed to establishing a market leading professional services organization, anchored by a world-class Leadership Foundations Certificate Program.”

DePaul Executive Education programs are among new initiatives overseen by the Hay Center for Leadership Development, which was recently founded at DePaul with a generous estate gift from the late William E. Hay, an alumnus, DePaul trustee and business leader.

In 2023 the center plans to launch a year-long leadership development program for DePaul undergraduates that will provide scholarships, mentoring and rigorous career preparation. This initiative is led by DePaul Management Professor Erich Dierdorff, who has been named the William E. Hay Leadership Fellow.
