Upbeat Outlook for Graduate Business Students

Where do DePaul graduate business students land after graduation? According to the 2015 Postgraduate Outcomes Summary released by the DePaul Career Center, 94 percent of 2014-15 Kellstadt graduates are either employed, continuing their education or not seeking employment.

"This is a very strong number for our graduate students," says Jennifer Kopczynski, interim director of the Kellstadt Career Management Center (CMC). "What makes the number even more impressive is that nearly all of those graduates are working in a job related to their degree."

Each year, the Career Center surveys DePaul's graduating class to measure their post-graduation status. Students are surveyed prior to graduation during cap and gown distribution and six months after they receive their degrees. Employment data is also gathered from graduates' LinkedIn profiles. The data is used to make sure DePaul students have the right combination of skills, knowledge and real world experience to successfully enter the job market.

Some highlights of the Class of 2015 DePaul business graduate survey include:
  • More of DePaul's business students were entering the business world or continuing education over previous years. The career outcome rate increased over last year's results by eight percentage points for Kellstadt students.
  • International students are finding success at DePaul with increases in career outcomes as well as in salaries over previous years.
  • About 95 percent of graduates are working full-time in jobs related to their degrees.
  • Nearly 500 unique employers recruited on-campus at DePaul for internships and full-time positions during the school year.

DePaul graduate business students benefit from having a dedicated career center with services tailored to their needs.

The Kellstadt Career Management Center provides a wealth of opportunities for DePaul graduate students who are seeking a new job, a career change or to advance in their careers. The CMC hosts industry nights, career education workshops, career fairs and many other events.

An example of the programming includes Analytics Night, a recruitment and networking event specifically for employers looking for students with analytical skills. Analytics Night has seen a 50 percent increase in the amount of recruiters requesting to attend and connect with DePaul talent.

For students, "partnering with the Kellstadt Career Management Center early and often is important," says Kopczynski. "Since graduate students have different goals for attaining their advanced business degrees, taking advantage of the center's resources and networking connections can lead to success."
