Recruiting Policies
The CMC's recruiting policies provide guidelines for employers looking to recruit talent from the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business. Along with these policies, all individuals involved in recruiting from the DePaul University community are required to review and adhere to our university policies, all Federal and State Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Labor Laws as well as the NACE Principles for the Ethical Professional Practices.
When scheduling events, interviews, or other engagement activities, refer to our recruiting calendar (above) to be cognizant of university closure and dates when students begin classes or have other academic commitments such as midterm or final exams. For assistance with scheduling recruiting events, please contact Meryll Locquiao, Associate Director of Employer & Alumni Engagement at mlocquia@depaul.edu.
On-Campus Interviews (OCI) or CMC-Facilitated Interviews
The CMC can support you with logistics to interview successfully on-campus at DePaul's Loop Campus where the Driehaus School of Business is located, 1 E. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL, 60604.
For CMC-Facilitated Interviews, you can utilize 12twenty to reserve an interview schedule and room space on-campus. If you'd like to hold virtual interviews, you would schedule through 12twenty just as you would for an on-campus visit. Then, be sure to include your company-hosted phone or web-based video conferencing link (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, etc.) as the location.
Off-Campus Interviews (Employer-Facilitated)
Fridays are the preferred day to schedule off-campus interviews or final round interviews held at your site as business school classes are typically not held on this day. Employers are encouraged to schedule both on- and off-campus interviews at times that do not interfere with a student's academic schedule.
Cancellations
It is highly recommended for employers to send a notification to scheduled students no later than 48 hours in advance of the scheduled interview date should there be a need for cancellation. As a best practice, send an email message detailing the reason for the cancellation and apologizing appropriately.
Follow-Up with Students
Please contact students to confirm interview times and keep them updated on your process and decision timeline after interviews. It is recommended to send a brief email or phone call showing your continued interest that will keep qualified candidates engaged and interested in your organization. Moreover, if you have declined students from consideration, we requrest that you inform the students as soon as possible so that they may continue their focus on other opportunities.

Exploding Offers
The Kellstadt Career Management Center prohibits exploding offers. Exploding offers are any offers that put undue pressure on students/alumni to make final decisions and/or commitments prior to completing their interviewing process.
We strongly encourage employers to review and consider our recommended deadlines and the guidelines and best practices for employers within NACE's Setting Reasonable Deadlines for Job Offers.
Offer Extensions
Employers are strongly encouraged to demonstrate flexibility in working with students and consider and/or accommodate reasonable offer extension requests that allow students to complete interviews in which they are currently engaged.
Offer Reneges and/or Rescinds
Employers are strongly discouraged from rescinding offers and are expected to uphold job offers (verbal and written) extended to students. Students are strongly advised to not renege on a previously accepted job offer or accept an offer while continuing to pursue other opportunities. If this occurs, we ask that you reach out to us at cmc@depaul.edu.
Offer Acceptances & Declines
We request that employers email cmc@depaul.edu once students have accepted or declined an offer so that we can be kept informed on the status of the candidates you are considering.
