As one of the first master’s programs in taxation in the U.S., DePaul’s MS in Taxation (MSTAX) is the foundation for exceptional performance and leadership in the field of tax accounting. For working professionals, it is structured to enhance understanding and analysis of complex tax statutes, tax regulations, related cases and rulings, and the Internal Revenue Code.
Earn your degree at a pace that works for you. Take one or two classes each quarter to complete the program within two to three years, or go full-time to complete it in one year. Additionally, many students take a quarter off during busy periods, such as the winter tax season.
MS Taxation Online option provides full access to the MS Taxation curriculum, allowing you to complete your degree partially or fully online to fit your schedule.
Because of our location in the heart of the city, as well as our professional connections, students in the program are consistently recruited by Chicago’s major firms and organizations, including KPMG, Deloitte, PwC and BDO.

Senior Professional Lecturer and Director of the MSTAX program Ronald Marcuson had 30 years of experience at Ernst & Young, 20 of which as a partner, before becoming professor and director of the taxation MS program. After he retired from representing multinational clients in tax planning, ASC 740, consolidated return issues and NOL planning, he transitioned into teaching courses in corporate reorganizations, consolidated returns and holds a seminar on current problems in taxation.
